Shashlik

This is a dish that is quite similar if not identical to the “shish kebab” - skewered cubes of meat that are roasted on a spit, often with vegetable slices mixed in. Shashlik is quite widespread in Russia because of the popularity of barbecue and grilling. It is also a common dish throughout Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus. Originally, this dish was cooked with lamb meat, but now one can find beef shashlik, pork shashlik, etc.
